The scratch markers of Dan Alcock, Chris Jahnz, Aaron O’grady and Reece Edwards had to try and make up 60 seconds to the pack of Chiswell, but never really threatened to catch up, and eventually gave up the chase. Hopefully the boys will show a little more heart this week.
This left the combined group to fight it out for the finish. With only 10klm to go Nathan chiswell attacked and the pack whittled down to the serious contenders of the day. Greg Swan pushed himself to the limit and was unable to go with the pace up the climb to the finish at the top of Perrys hill.
The eventual winner was Sean Golding who powered away early in the climb and comfortable won ahead of Kiwi Chris, with Liam Warburton finishing a credible third.
The C and D grade riders all stayed together in their respective packs, and with their finish line halfway up Perrys hill it was going to be the freshest who would win the day. Chris Robb, Craig Allen and Mat Foley took out podium honours in C grade, while Alan Miller, Geraldine Blomfield-Brown and Hugo Mayson stood on the podium in D grade.
