Riders were greeted by excellent Winter weather for racing at Bonville last Saturday afternoon. It was good to see some new senior and junior faces at sign on again this week. Mel Roach, doing an excellent job as club road race director, set the A/B group a 5 lap scratch race on the Bonville course. A number of the A graders were away racing in Gunnedah, causing the amalgamation of A and B grade for the afternoon's event. The new dynamic of the combined A and B group, allowed the club's young and talented riders to make an impression. The Warburton brothers rode very well to finish just in front of an always fast Nathan Hardaker...
1st Numa Warburton
2nd Liam Warburton
3rd Nathan Hardaker
A large goup signed up for C grade which stayed together for the majority of the 4 lap event. At the finish, Steve Sloan used his fast cadence to get a handy gap to an always strong Mel Roach, followed closely by the eternally tactical Alan Miller. The youngest rider in the group was 13 yo Hugo Mayson, who finished a close 5th on restricted gearing. Well done Hugo.

D grade had a smaller group battling it out over 3 laps. All riders put in a big effort with Harry Rourke and Ron Whitehead getting dropped on the second lap, and who then pushed hard to once again catch the leaders, which demonstrated their determination. Emma Richardson made a last lap break on the climb to Mailmans, but the young and strong Tenielle Stubbs bridged the gap after chasing for a kilometre, to sprint away in the last 100 metres. Harry also finished strongly to take second with Emma third.
1st Tenielle Stubbs
2nd Harry Rourke
3rd Emma Richardson
The juniors once again showed their enthusiasm with little legs completing 2 laps of the hilly course. It is always inspiring to see the juniors enjoying themselves and achieving such great results.
Thanks to all the riders, spectators and supporters.
Thanks to all the volunteers who did traffic signs, rider registration, commissaire and first aid duties.
Next club race is on Saturday 02/07/2011 at 1:15pm at the Bonville course.
