An Adventure Race is coming to Coffs on the 30th of May. For the uninitiated, it involves a team (2 people in this case) been given a map and navigating between checkpoints on foot, mountain bike and in a kayak. It is as much about tactics and nav skills as it is being a gun rider etc. Great fun and the ones I've done always take you places you'd never normally go. They provide the kayak and related gear. This one is a sprint race and should take between 3-6hrs. Apparently the triathalon crew are keen and I can see a few MTBer's enjoying the adventure. Info and reg at blackheartevents.com.au
If you like the look of adventure racing and want to go bigger again, Geocentric are holding the 48hr 'Geoquest' in August and will be based out of Port Macquarie. This is the same one that ran out of Sawtell and Emerald Beach a couple of years ago and there was a couple of Coffs teams having a crack. www.gar.com.au
