The key to winning was in getting a good start and leading into the single track, so the first 75 metres along the fire road and into the first corner provided some great entertainment. As the rounds progressed riders were grouped with others of similar speed until the final four was decided being Tim Cotsell, Geoff Gilchrist, Emily Parkes and Ryan Gilchrist. Ryan got the better start and the crowd was wondering if he would be allowed to get away before his father quickly shut him down and led into the single track. The race for third between Emily and Tim was almost too close to call with Tim getting his wheel across the line just before a hard charging Em.

Eliminator Placings:
Geoff Gilchrist
Ryan Gilchrist
Tim Cotsell
Emily Parkes

We then had change mode from explosive starts to a 3 lap. 21km xc race to decide the overall champions. Unfortunately the timing system didn't want to play on the day so we don't have a full breakdown of lap times but xc places were:

Men Women Juniors
Geoff Gilchrist Emily Parkes Ryan Gilchrist
Pete Marshall Shona Walker Camden Aitken
Tim Cotsell Helen Parkes Ben Winter

After both the Eliminator and XC race were taken into account, our 3 very proud Club Champions for 2013 are:
Mens - Geoff Gilchrist
Womens - Emily Parkes
Juniors - Ryan Gilchrist

Two sets of results are below, one showing just the Coffs members for consideration of club champion and then the raw scores including all others who competed on the day.

2013_chcc_mtb_club_rankings.docx

File Size:

14 kb

File Type:

docx

Download File

mtb_08.12.2013_raw_rankings.docx

File Size:

14 kb

File Type:

docx

Download File

Thank you for everyone for taking part in what was a really enjoyable day. There was a bit of a tussle for the minor placings though with young Gregory Manttan from Armidale overtaking single speeder Geoff Gilchrist on the last lap to sort out 2nd and 3rd place. I'm not sure if ASADA have tested the Torq energy products, but Torq rider Emily Parkes is becoming very fast indeed and consistent for that matter. With only 24 seconds between her fastest and slowest of four laps, Em was also the 5th fastest rider all day beating half the open mens field!

The full results are attached at the bottom of the post and show that Coffs riders placed well in most categories, and there were some great sprint finishes to give spectators something to cheer over. The Nambucca crew put on a fantastic event on a beautifully prepared track. The first lap or two were slightly greasy in a couple of places but the sun soon had the track turning very grippy. Congratulations to everyone who made the trip down to Nambucca and had fun racing against people from throughout the region.

Next up for Coffs is a Cross Country lap race at Cows with Guns on Sunday 21 April then round 3 of the GNaTPACK series will be at Taree on 19 May.

Happy riding

GNaTPack 2013 Nambucca Results.pdf

File Size:

283 kb

File Type:

pdf

Download File

MTB Results - GNaTPACK Series Round 1 01/04/2012

http://www.coffsharbourcycleclub.org.au/results2/mtb-results-gnatpack-series-round-1-01042012

http://www.coffsharbourcycleclub.org.au/results2/mtb-results-gnatpack-series-round-1-01042012#comments

gnatpack

A perfect sunny day greeted riders and the trail crew had prepared a very fast, flowing course that had been immaculately groomed. The day started off with the Dirtmasters event on a 600m course. It was also a slightly tougher finish coming up through ‘AJs’ to avoid the parking area.
